阿們!(腓4:19) Breaking the Alabaster Jar and Let the Fragrance Flow for All Generations Key verses: 3 And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. 4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply. 6 But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. 7 For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. 8 She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. 9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.” (Mark 14:3-9) Memorization Verses: 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matt 22:37-40) 1. A good thing in the eyes of the Lord: Seize every opportunity and offer the best to the Lord a. Opportunities are in time: Be able to take advantage of it b. Loving the Lord with all of our heart and strength is more than reasonable – even if others think it is a “waste”: He laid down his life for you and me 2. The other side of the gospel: Man can actually satisfy God. a. God always accepts and blesses those who are willing to give their best out of love b. The Lord required that “this gospel” be preached throughout the world as a memorial 3. The practice and testimony of the church regarding offerings a. Tithe and offerings Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts,“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. (Mal 3:10) b. It’s a blessing - the pathway and testimony to glorify God and blessings to man i. When building of the Tabernacle 6 So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, “Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.” And the people were restrained from bringing, 7 for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done—indeed too much. (Ex 36:6-7) ii. iii. When building the Temple 5 Now David said, “Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death. ... 14 Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the LORD one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. (1 Chron 22:5,14) The widow’s two mites 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mark 12:41-44) c. Offering according to God’s heart i. Willing heart (2 Cor 8:12; 9:7) 12 For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. (2 Cor 8:12) 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Cor 9:7) Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: 2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. 3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, 4 imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God. (2 Cor 8:1-5) ii. iii. With all of our heart (Matt 22:37-28; Mark 22:30; 1 John 3:21-22) 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. (1 John 3:21-22) By Faith (Mark 9:23; 2 Cor 1:20; Phil 4:19) 23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23) 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Cor 1:20) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Phil 4:19-20)
